Silver is bought by weight, so the premium matters more
At silver's price, the premium is a much larger share of what you pay than it is on gold. A dollar of premium on a $30 ounce is a different proposition from a dollar on a $2,000 ounce, and it is the main thing worth comparing between dealers.
Bars and rounds generally carry the lowest premium per ounce. Sovereign coins like the American Silver Eagle carry more, and are easier to sell on later to a private buyer who wants something recognisable. Both are legitimate choices for different reasons.
Buying in quantity
Silver is one of the few things where buying more genuinely changes the unit price. Sealed tubes and full boxes price better per ounce than loose pieces, and the listings on this site show the actual per-piece cost at each size so the comparison is not guesswork.
