The Story
The Morgan Dollar (1878–1904, and again in 1921) was struck from the great silver strikes of the American West — much of it Comstock Lode silver — and named for its designer, George T. Morgan. Its successor, the Peace Dollar (1921–1935), was created to commemorate the peace following World War I. Together they are the most collected large silver coins in American history, each carrying 0.7734 oz of silver and over a century of story.
